GET YOUR BUSINESS ONLINE’ OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCAL BUSINESSES

Businesses in Newry and Mourne District Council area are being encouraged to sign up to a focused business support programme aimed at helping local SMEs set up to ‘tell their online story’ - informing people about their products and services, reinforcing their brand, and encouraging both return and new custom through the online market.

The Get Your Business Online Programme, which is being delivered as part of the NMD Business Support Programme is open to all business located in the Council area which employ less than 50 people.

The Get Your Business Online Programme and is part funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the Investment for Growth & Jobs Northern Ireland (2014 -2020) programme.

The Programme will consist of four workshops and a mentoring programme will provide digitally focused mentoring support. Completion of the four workshops are mandatory and opens up the opportunity for businesses to apply to receive one-to-one mentoring in the design and delivery of websites. The workshops will cover the following themes: -

  • Getting your Business Online
  • Setting Up a Small Business Website
  • Social Media Fundamentals
  • SEO, Analytics and Pulling It All Together

All participants must be located in Newry Mourne and Down District Council, though the project is open to entrepreneurs and SMEs in all sectors, and all they have to do is commit to all four of the workshops, which are completely free, in order to progress to the mentoring element of the programme.

Chairman of Newry Mourne & Down District Council, Councillor Charlie Casey, said, "I am delighted to see the latest phase of the NMD Business Growth Programme launched in this new ‘Get Your Business Online’ programme. While some SME’s may have a small online presence, they may not be fully aware of the key ingredients for successful online marketing, such as search engine optimisation, user functionality, market intelligence gathering and creative design.”
